my wintery few weeks in snapshots

.the cold snap starts on the walk into town, everyone is wrapping up! .indulged/procrastinated with elle and cosmo magazines .gilbert was feeling particularly photogenic this day .ordered some topshop goodies, loving the grunginess of it all .also bought some ever ours goodies, and some friends birthday presents .spontaneous trip to bluewater which was fruitless except for this scrummy yoomoo and holiday brochures .posing as per, and keeping warm in my granddad cardi .valentines special glossy box arrived, pretty in pink! .working hard and playing hard .vintage bazaar in canterbury town center, picked up a jumper for a fiver (bargain!) .yankee candle is running out, but bought a lovely cheap on from sainsbos instead, teamed with body butter=bliss .canterbury is looking very picturesque in the snow .snow settled, so sledging commenced.

Over the past few weeks I have been doing lots of dissertation prep and seminar prep, unfortunately, I still feel like it's getting to me, an awful mountain I have to climb in order to get the 2:1 I need/want this year. These past few weeks have been going really fast, half the time I forget what day it is and what seminars I have.  Genuinely think I might be getting more forgetful in my old age.
Over-indulged a bit with shopping in town and ordering online, I'm tempted to try frugal february to save some money, is anyone else trying this?
Winter is always late in the UK, and for some reason I associate February with spring and snowdrops, that seems to not be happening lately. I really do like winter a lot, but snow gets on my nerves especially when the gritters dont grit any roads, and we can't afford heating.  I've been wrapping up warm these past couple of weeks, and making my way steadily through my granddad jumpers and cardigans, they are literally the best, cosiest thing ever!

I'm off to continue with a bit more university work, and then some friends are coming over to watch the new series of "being-human." I'm getting my geek on tonight! Does anyone else watch this? I'm a bit apprehensive about this series.

Have a lovely rest of sunday!

wardrobe wants #4

Figured it was a time for a massive wardrobe wants post, considering there are so many lovely SS12 items that are catching people's eyes, I thought I would express the desire to own the majority of high street fashion.  So again, I've neglected face fixer, but maybe I'll do it in alternate weeks instead! PLAN.  Today I'm massively hungover, went out last night with my housemates and got very drunk, was amazing I managed to even stay in my propoints plan.  By the way I dyed my hair purple!
not a very good photo, but hope you get the idea. used xxl cyber purple :)

Having not done a wardrobe wants for a while, I'm excited to see your lovely opinions, please do leave a comment if you like what you see! At the moment, aztec is everywhere, and I'm definitely loving it.  In stark contrast is the pale spring colours and bold neon colours as well.  I'm also loving that grunge is back in, as well as the opposite of peter pan collars and large ruffles.  Not too shabby for Franky.
Living off student finance and random temp jobs, buying lots of lovelies is not on my to-do list, instead dissertation thesis, literature review and a mass read on feminist semiotics is on hand.
I'm allowing my eyes some indulgence today.

face fixer #2 "that gal" primer.

So I first posted this a few weeks ago, but deadlines saw me miss the second installment. As I am pretty busy with dissertation things, this is only a little post to talk about a Primer I got a few weeks ago. Hating to admit this, I am a bit of a primer novice.  I didn't ever use it thinking makeup would sit a lot better on a face with its use, but I'm very much mistaken. I'm sure a lot of you have used other primers before, so I would love to hear about any recommendations you guys have. Please share, as I would love to try more out!

I find Benefit primer very easy to put out and very light, it almost glides across the skin.  Giving an even coverage, it also spreads very well, meaning you don't have to use a lot in one go.    I also have to admit I love the fact it's pink!  When I went to buy this, the woman at the counter gave me the option of a brightening face primer or a oil-free primer. I stared blankly back.    Finally, I opted for the brightening primer, as it was the cheapest one.  I would also love to try the oil-free one, although I don't think this particular product is oily at all.   Being a brightening primer, it does give your skin a good glow, and once the makeup is on it really disguises your pores really well, I have huge pores  >:(.  The other thing I enjoy about this product is the packaging it comes in, the top of the product is a twist cap, so you can easily dispense what comes out, and as I said you really don't need a lot at all, which suits me very well. I have a habit of using too much makeup and wasting it in weeks :(

apologies for my gross nails, and for the fact my ring has actually made my finger green. WTF?

My skin is horrendous today, so I'm not going to do any before and after snaps of my face, I just hope you take my word for it.  I would dearly love to hear about any of your experiences with primer, so I can explore with some other products.  A cheaper primer might also be on the table as I can't really afford this primer all the time, at £21.50 it burns a hole in my pocket.

Today has been filled with lots of lovely trips.  I've been busy with a dissertation meeting, and I made a trip to bluewater shopping center with the girlies, which was a nice relax, although I did drive there and back.  I also went for lunch with my best friend Sophie at Nandos.  I was meant to take a picture, but I ate it too fast, very happy however, that a chicken fillet burger with spicy rice and hallumi cheese is 15pp.  Gave me plenty of room for a yoomoo and pancakes for dinner!

I was dreading my dissertation meeting, but I feel like I know what I'm doing now, and my supervisor gaves me lots of lovely advice and tips, feeling a lot better about it now.  How is all your work going lovelies? I know a few of you are doing dissertations!

scrummy yooomoooo :) kickstart flavour. only 6pp. (i'm obsessed with weightwatchers at the moment...) as you can see i've been looking at holidays abroad for the girlies. where would you recommend? somewhere cheap and boozey please!

Hope you all have had fabulous days.

my busy week: snapshots 6

getting up at 8am on mondays is apparently pretty. movie sesh with the housemates . work overload made easier with hp1 . sweetcorn fritters .  rugrats and sweetchilli noodles . missguided purchase . dollar nail varnish no7 for only £2 . hope jillian isn't angry at me for using baked beans as weights - 30 day shred = brutal . alcohol sesh didn't really ruin my diet . lovely photos from the night out, we all look retarded and featuring misguided purchases . housemates found a chair after a night ou, it reclines and everything!

This week I've been stressing out about a lot of thing, mostly about the growing pile of dissertation work that needs to be completed. Deadlines look so much sooner after Christmas! I've been quite busy with seminar prep, 3 deadlines and dissertation research, how I managed to fit going out I'll not know.
I've also been thinking a lot about what I want to do after I graduate.  Hopefully I'll get the 2:1 I'm aiming for, but who knows.  I would ideally love to go into writing, writing as a career is literally my dream job, so I've been looking at potential graduate schemes, which is not going very well! Mainly because the deadline was before Christmas so I really needed to get my bum moving sooner! Journalism is a possible career.
I've also had my fair share of alcohol this week, so although my diet has gone well this week it could have gone better. I drank too much vodka and cider. Such is the life of a uni student, the next I definitely regretted it. Still I had a 2lbs loss, so not bad at all!

This week I've also tried out a lot of new recipes, one featured are these sweet corn fritters, which I was apprehensive to try as I'm definitely not sweetcorn's biggest fan! However, these were absolutely delicious and so easy to make. If anyone would like to see a blog on how to make these, let me know, I have the cooking bug. They're also really healthy and only 5pp a go plus salad and dressing. nomnomnom.

I better get back to my seminar prep for this week! Arrghhhh. I also plan the rest of my evening catching up on Dancing on Ice. Started watching it and I'm hooked, this is what happens when you only have 4 channels.
